2026-06-12 Places & Spaces — Painting a Picture in Words

  • What we’ll do: We’ll practice describing the places that matter to us — a favorite café tucked away on a side street, a garden, a childhood kitchen. We’ll play a fast describing game in teams, share our special places with classmates, and try drawing a room from a partner’s description alone.
  • Key Phrases: tucked away / overlooking / What strikes you first is… / It’s the kind of place where… / It’s hard to describe, but it’s a bit like…
  • What to bring: Just yourself — and think about one place that feels special or calming to you. What makes it different from other places you know?
  • See you Friday!

Optional At-Home Activities

  1. Stand in your favorite room at home for one minute. Try describing it out loud in English — what you see first, what is where, how it feels.
  2. Find one photo of a place you love (on your phone is fine). Write two or three English sentences describing it, and bring the photo if you like.
